The XTPC operates in passive mode, three different Active modes (driver, inductive and flange), and probe-mode. In passive mode the detector cables research signals 60 or 50 Hz (factory preset). In Active mode the transmitter operates at a frequency 33 kHz or 82 kHz (depending on model). Probe mode the receiver looks for the signal transmitted by a small probe that is inserted into a tube.
