The benefits of liquid insulation for walls

Proper insulation at home allows for more efficient operation of heating equipment, as well as reduces fuel costs. One of the new technologies for insulation of dwellings is a liquid insulation for walls, including special foam.

Liquid insulation has a high elasticity. It does not place a significant burden on floors and other structures, has a long lifespan and, if necessary, can be easily restored or dismantled.

Penoisol
Liquid insulation usually refers to foam, which is used to insulate rooms. One of its varieties is called foam. The structure of this material resembles Styrofoam, but is actually a carbamide polymer. Penoisol can be supplied not only in the form of foam mass, but also in the form of plates. It is also made of pellets for filling with the main material.

Best for insulation of frame buildings. It is designed to fill the air gaps between:

inner and outer walls;
Plastic panels and a wall;
drywall sheet and wall;
wooden flooring and its base.

The material is also suitable for insulation of containers and heat track. In its operational properties, the foam is superior to mineral cotton wool and Styrofoam. The advantages of Stooisol are:

High speed
Undemanding to the conditions of temperature and humidity;
Long lifespan
Weak combustion;
elasticity and resistance to deformation.

When hardened, the material does not form joint seams, which means it is resistant to breaks. In addition, it does not create a favorable environment for the development of fungi and mold, it is not damaged by rodents.

Penoisol has sound insulation properties, and allows to significantly reduce the noise of the living space. In addition, the manufacturer assures that the material is environmentally friendly.

Polyurethane foam

Externally, spenpolyurethane resembles a normal mounting foam, but has a closed fine-cell structure. The material is applied in a layer of 4 to 8 cm, provides good adhesion to any materials. Styrofoam has low water-absorbing capacity, so no additional waterproofing is required. Its other advantages include:

Low weight;
elasticity, the ability to fill the voids of any form;
Low vapor ispermissability;
resistance to biological factors, including fungus and mold.

The benefits of liquid insulation for walls

The main drawback of Styrofoam is the need for special equipment. To do the work on insulation at home yourself, you will have at your own expense to buy a gun to spray the substance and the balloon where it is contained.

Mounting foam
When insulating rooms, foam is often used for installation work. There are many varieties of this material, including those that are specifically designed to insulate the premises. Often foam is used to fix slabs of solid insulation materials or to fill the seams between them.

Brands of foam with increased adhesion, used with sheet insulation, have been developed. For functional purposes, they resemble glue: foam is applied to the surface of thermal insulation material and pressed against the wall. Within 5-10 minutes the composition is polymerized and the plate is firmly fixed.

Heat insulation paint
Insulation foam is not the only product for insulation, which has a liquid consistency. Along with it is used liquid ceramic paint. Compared to foam, this paint has less pronounced insulation qualities. At the same time, the latter has the best waterproofing properties.

It is recommended to apply paint only in the places where the elements of the structures of the apartment building, for example, between the roof and walls are docked. Some use this material to insulate the rooms from the inside, but this is a big mistake. On the one hand, to achieve the desired insulation effect, you will need at least 10 layers of paint. On the other hand, the insulation layer is never placed on the inside of the walls, as this will lead to the formation of condensate in the building due to the incorrectly calculated dew point.

How to apply
The sequence of work depends on which liquid insulation is selected.

If you decide to use foam or foam, you need to buy a disposable or reusable kit for spraying or pouring mass.

Spray involves working with open surfaces. The essence of this technology is that the foam is sprayed on the wall with an even layer of thickness of 5-10 cm. Before that, the wall is cleaned, get rid of the remnants of wallpaper or paint. With a step up to 50 cm with the help of self-cutters are attached guides – wooden slats or aluminum profiles.

Usually the guides are located vertically, strictly at right angles in relation to the ceiling and floor, but sometimes horizontal baris. Foam fills the space between them, and the guides themselves must act over the foam. They are needed in order to mount sheets of drywall on top of them when the insulation dries.

How to fill
The method of pouring is more complex in execution. It is that foam fills voids that cannot be treated with spraying due to difficult access. During pouring, the liquid insulation is fed inside the cavity, where it is evenly distributed due to its elasticity.

The pouring technology allows you to get rid of voids in the already installed capital walls, or after the installation of drywall coating. In this case, you need to fulfill one condition: there should be access to the cavity at least in the form of a small hole, which can fit the nozzle of the unit for pouring mass.

Sometimes the foam is poured into the mold immediately at the production. So get thermal insulation blocks, which in the future can be mounted inside the walls instead of spraying.

Corrosion protection
If you plan to insulate a metal pipeline, then first it should be painted or protected from corrosion in any other way. Manufacturers of styrofoam and foam will never warn about it, but without proper protection the pipe will rot and crumble. Then you will have to completely remove the insulation to get access to it for repair.

The insulation foam is fed into the pistol for pouring or spraying on hoses from a container with raw materials. In the case of Styrofoam, these are two tanks: one contains polysisonate and the other contains polyol. It is important that there is no air in the containers and hoses, as it will interfere with the reaction of substances.

Popular manufacturing firms
To date, Russia has a large number of manufacturers of styrofoam, foam, foam and other liquid mixtures that are used to insulate premises. Of the domestic manufacturers, the most well-known are:

“Dou-Isolan”;
Vladipur NVP;
“Chemical Supplier Don”;
“Elastics”;
Uretan;
Himprom.

If we are talking about buying a disposable construction tool, it does not matter under what brand it is released. Along with the great popularity and Chinese kits. At the same time, the choice of the material itself should be treated with responsibility. To avoid premature wear and tear, it is advisable to buy raw materials of domestic or European production.
