Types of installation of radiant underfloor heating

There are two main styles of installing radiant underfloor heating – “wet” and “dry”.

Both systems can use either hydraulic or electrical energy to heat the floor. The name of the installation is related to how the pipes or electrical wires are laid.

In a wet system, pipes or wires are sealed in concrete or another material that can easily transfer heat.

This is called a wet system because wires or tubes are placed in a wet material; Once the material solidifies, the floor will become dry, even if you use the water heating method.

In a dry system, tubes or cables are placed in a cavity under the floor or between floors.

They’re not built into anything. Both methods will provide efficient and constant heating, but you may find that depending on where you install the heater, one method works better for you than the other.
