Puebla started with its special programme of security “Sentinel”

Mexico. Local authorities began the special security program “Sentinel” with the installation of 120 camcorders in the historic centre of the city of Puebla.

 

The Mayor, Eduardo Rivera explained that a total of 300 cameras video surveillance in different parts of the capital, will be placed in the first stage of the project, 120 of them in the streets of the Centre.

Governor Rafael Moreno Valle stressed that security is fundamental to project a positive image during the Tianguis Turistico, next to be held in this entity.

 

Both officials said that the city centre is the main tourist attraction and why security must be raised.

 

“Sentinel” surveillance program had an investment of 120 million pesos (US$ 9.5 million).

 

The first cameras were fitted out at the intersection of avenida 16 de septiembre and 5 East, a few metres from the Congress of the State and the Metropolitan Cathedral.
