Tips for caring for carnivorous plants

Carnivorous plants are a great complement to our gardening. They are intriguing, sexy, almost hypnotic, and allow us to amaze us every day with its mechanics and behaviors.
Variety of carnivorous plants, known as “tropical” (Nepenthes, Caphalotus and other), which are those that require higher levels of humidity and temperature, and “non-tropical” (Dionaea, Sarracenia, Drosera and other), which are more wild and more resistant to cold climates.

Nutrition and irrigation of the carnivorous plants

Habitat land should not contain too many minerals, so you need to transplant it (every two years, approximately, in the spring). Attempts to complete with neutral soil with Sphagnum and special substrates, placing it in plastic pots, porcelain, glass, or glass (not of mud, as it contains minerals).

Food, best thing to do is to try to aerate it daily in an open space, so it attracts insects on their own. Remember that if it does not succeed in capturing insects, plant can brief periods by the process of photosynthesis. Of course, that if you want to make the task easier, the favorite food of the carnivorous plants are small spiders, ants, flies and moths. It will be sufficient to capture two insects per month.
