 The electricity meter in terms of electrical engineering is a coil 2. It is included in the wiring so that one coil is connected in series with a load, it comprises several thick wire turns and has a very low resistance. Flows through it the same current as in the load, so it is called the coil current. The second coil in the meter has contains a lot of turns and is connected parallel to the load, the current through it is very small, and the voltage is the same as the load. It is called the coil voltage.
